To be Healthy and Well the Basics Still Work Best

Turns out to be healthy and well the basics still work best for me Who knew? I did. I stopped taking care of me when life went sideways again early in 2024. I was taking care of everything and everybody but me. What do I mean by the basics? Below are my health and wellness basics in no order. I hope many of you will find these helpful.

1. Real food on a regular basis: I often forget to eat when stressed. That means headaches from blood sugar drops. I have experienced those on and off since I was a teenager. Plenty of lean protein/ fruits/vegetables and complex carbs are the solution.

2. Plenty of fluids: little to no carbonation. Ice tea with not much sugar, coffee (a nonnegotiable) but pay attention to my caffeine intake. Again, headaches if I do not. Always drink plenty of water as well.

3. Exercise daily so movement is easier. The warmer I get my muscles the less spikes in my tone which is a symptom of my kind of cerebral palsy.

4. Do NOT forget my vitamins. Take them daily as directed by my doctor.

5. Take deep breaths all the way to the bottom of my lungs (exercise helps me be able to do this as does meditation) so I can not have bronchitis or pneumonia as much as is possible. I know I cannot prevent everything sickness wise but I can prevent a lot.

6. Meditate daily: I use Headspace for meditation. The app lives on my phone, so I can meditate anytime I need to do so.

7. Feel what I need to feel and quit pushing down my feelings so much. Let Together do what it does. Let my chosen family in and let them love me. Sing out my feelings as often as I need to.

8.Pray often. Be grateful to God for all my blessings. Gratitude changes everything. Besides love it is our best defense against the enemy as far as I am concerned. There is always something to be thankful for no matter my circumstances.

9. Put moisturizer on my face daily. My dermatitis is more manageable this way along with my medicine from my dermatologist.

10. Lots of rest and plenty of sleep: less cerebral palsy symptoms and side effects

11.. Do not work too hard. Listen to my body.

  1. Bravo Stacey! These are all great lifestyle choices, they work well for me too! I like light frequent meals through the day and exercise definitely keeps me feeling physical and mentally fit as does my connection to Spirit🙏✨
